Perfect
I am tickled — this is my second Ariens mower. The first one was purchased in 2009 and passed away just a few weeks ago after many years of faithful service 🇺🇸. The front-drive self-propelled system is a great addition to the quieter and more powerful edition.

Poor design (idler bracket)
Generally a good mower. We replaced our older mower with a new RAZOR 21 SP. The old mower is still running — the new mower is 30 months old with 300 hours on it. The cutter engagement spring let go and on inspection the idler bracket hole for the spring had torn out. Dealer keeps replacements on hand, though.

Not off to a good start
Lowes just tried to deliver a RAZOR 21 SP and on first start, fuel poured out of the engine. Doesn't look like it was assembled properly or tested before it was put on the truck. Refused the delivery. Very disappointed because we waited 2 weeks for it.

My RAZOR 21 SP arrived full of gas & oil, ready to perform. The 163cc engine is noticeable — better handling and turning radius. Extremely quiet muffler system, 1/4-in. mower height settings, and the self-propelled drive is smooth. Ariens builds them to last.

Deck scalps on turns
3rd summer with the mower. The deck is perfectly level and tire pressure is spot on but it still scalps the yard on turns. Quiet and nice ride when not cutting.
